Arke’s 2016 Roundup

In 2016, Arke celebrated our 10th anniversary supplying the defence industry with impartial, independent and trusted decision support across all domains. We enjoyed another successful year and recruited at the start of 2016, growing our skill set further to ensure we were best placed to support our customers throughout the year.

At the start of 2016 we wrapped up a significant study on behalf of senior decision makers within MOD, which was later briefed to Industry at the Land Open Systems event days throughout the rest of the year. We continued to support concept and early research studies across all of MOD, and in May we were asked to present at ITEC 2016, which this year focused on themes surrounding the Defence Enterprise. We also exhibited at DVD, with two of Arke’s consultants completing the 5k ‘fun’ run across the hilly terrain of Milbrook the evening before. In summer, we presented at the SE Tower Industry Day on two occasions to discuss an innovative piece of work we were doing, building on NATOs recent Modelling and Simulation studies. In autumn we exhibited at LOGNET, which showcased some of the most cutting edge work across Defence; we talked about the potential cost benefits of increased use of additive manufacturing to the defence supply chain.

Throughout 2016, we supported MOD across a range of frameworks, including through the ASC contract, through R Cloud, the DHCSTC framework, the DSL framework, and also through Niteworks. Towards the end of the year, we also supported Army HQ directly with benefit management and opportunity exploitation planning in preparation for the future battlefield communication systems. Maintaining the expertise within the team remains at the forefront of Arke priorities, and we attended conferences held by RINA, the ICEAA, and the OR Society. In 2016, one member of the team was awarded a Bronze BAE Chairman’s Award, testament to the hard working ethos ingrained within the team.

We recruited again at the very end of the year, in preparation for what already looks to be a busy year ahead. With that in mind, we wish all our customers and colleagues a Happy New Year and a prosperous and successful 2017.
