Our year began with a presentation at a SCAF workshop covering “Cost Analysis and the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR)”, where we spoke about quantifying the costable and non-costable impact of programme change to defence. The piece prompted discussion on how, even if we understand programme budgets, we can quantify effectiveness to use as a comparative measure between programmes at the top level.
We maintained a strong industry presence through attending a variety of Industry and MoD led conferences and exhibitions throughout the year, in addition to contributing to a number of Subject Matter Expert workshops and field days.
Over the past year we were involved in a diverse range of cutting edge research projects across all domains, including a focus on Future Disruptive Capabilities which was one of the key messages from our DSEI stand in last year’s exhibition.
Heading into 2016, Arke will continue to support long term, on-going initiatives across MoD. This includes recently securing membership on the Analysis Support Construct, a framework set up by Dstl to service the demand for analysis required by decision makers in all defence and Security Domains.
Arke sit ready to adapt as the defence community continues to digest the SDSR and changes in Government that took place last year, and consequently we are planning for a busy 2016. This has already manifested itself with the addition of a new permanent staff member who is due to start in January, plus the recruitment of a Mathematics student at Cambridge University for a Summer Placement period.
Arke would like to wish all its customers and colleagues a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2016.
